UNESCO has inscribed 1 Benin site in the World Heritage List: the Royal Palaces of Abomey (1985, 2007).

The Royal Palaces of Abomey it's a place where from 1625 to 1900, the 12 kings that succeeded one another at the head of the powerful Kingdom of Abomey, built their palaces within the same cob-wall area, in keeping with previous palaces as regards the use of space and materials. The only exception was King Akaba, who had his own separate enclosure. The royal palaces of Abomey are a unique reminder of this vanished kingdom.

Interesting for a visit are also the Musée Historique d'Abomey, the Grand Marché du Danktokpa, the Portuguese Fort Sao Joao Baptista de Ajuda in Ouidah with its museum and the Parc National de Pendjari, a wildlife park situated 45 km north of Natitingou, near the border with Burkina Faso, it presents lions, leopards, baboons, elephants and hippos.
