Libya has two main types of climate, the Mediterranean climate, along the coast and the desertic climate in the rest of the country.

Along the coast of the Mediterranean sea summers are hot and dry with average temperatures around 30°C and high humidity, while winters are mild and with scarce rains. During the spring, especially in April, along the coastline blowing sometimes Ghibli, a warm, dry wind that causes a sharp rise in temperatures. The precipitation reached the highest in Cyrenaica in the area of Jabal al Akhdar where annual fall between 600 mm and 400 mm of rain.
