REUNION

The climate of Reunion is tropical hot and humid, but varies greatly depending on the height and exposure to prevailing winds. On the island exist two distinct seasons, the hot and humid rainy season, which runs from December to February with average temperatures ranging from 23°C to 30°C and the fresh and dry season which runs from May to November with average temperatures ranging between 25°C and 18°C. The temperature drops with increasing altitude and at high altitudes can reach temperatures below freezing. Between January and March, the island may be affected by cyclones. The capital Saint-Denis, which is located at the north, receives an average of 1 150 mm of rain a year. The east coast, generally cooler, is the most rainy area of the island with peaks that reach 4 000 / 8 000 mm of rain a year. The west coast is hot and dry here precipitation reaching values even lower than 650 mm per year.

The best time for a trip to Reunion are the cooler and dry months between May and November.
