Going towards south the climate becomes warmer and drier, to become desertic in the area of the Sahara, where the annual precipitation will be reduced to 100-150 mm. Summer temperatures are often very high, especially in the south and inland, strong are the temperature ranges between day and night, while along the coast temperatures are moderate from the sea. Along the coast the average minimum temperature in January is around 7°C, the average maximum around 14°C, while in summer are 21°C and 33°C. Inland there are more marked values with average minimum temperature of 6°C and average maximum of 18°C in January, and average minimum of 23°C and average maximum of 38°C in August. In April, usually from the Sahara Desert blows sirocco, which dry the air and bring warm. The best time to visit Tunisia are spring months between March and June and the autumn months between September and October.
