The island of Anguilla is a dependency of the United Kingdom located in the Caribbean, in the Lesser Antilles, north of the island of Saint Martin. The state of Anguilla is formed from the main island of Anguilla (91 sq km), the island of Sombrero (0.38 sq km) and other small islands (Prickly Pear Cays, Dog, Scrub, Seal). Anguilla is a low coral island full of beaches, the capital, The Valley, is located along the northern coast of the island, the highest point of the island is the Crocus Hill (65 meters). The economy is based on agriculture (sweet potatoes, corn, pineapple, cotton), fishing (lobsters) and tourism.

Population: 13 500 (2006 data) (Africans 90%, Mulattos (descendants of European and African) 5%, Europeans 4%).

State Capital: The Valley.

Language: Official language is English.

Religion: Christian 95% (Anglican 30%, Methodist 24%, Adventist 8%, Pentecostal 8%, Church of God 8%, Baptist 7%, Catholic 6%).

Currency: East Caribbean Dollar (XCD)
