USEFUL INFORMATION:

PASSPORTS AND DOCUMENTATION:

Travel Documents: Passport, with remaining validity of 6 months at the time of entering the country.

Visa: is not required. You must be in possession of return ticket. 

HEALTH:

Health Care: In general, the quality of health care facilities is good. The main hospitla is Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau. There is also a government-operated hospital, Rand Memorial, in Freeport, and several government-operated clinics on Grand Bahama Island. Nassau and Freeport/Lucaya also have private hospitals. Physicians and surgeons in private practice are readily available in Nassau, Cable Beach, and Freeport/Lucaya. A dozen or so health centers are in the Out Islands.

 

It is advisable to conclude, before undertaking the trip, an health insurance.

Vaccinations: No vaccination is required. 

TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRICITY:

Telephones: The country dialling code for the Bahamas is 001-242.

Internet: Almost all hotel have connections to the Internet. 

Electricity: The electric current is 110/220 volts, 50 Hz. The socket is a American type. 

CURRENCY AND BANKS:

Currency: Bahamas Dollar (BSD).

Banks: For purchases you can safely use the U.S. dollar, easily exchangeable the U.S. dollar and Euro that both convertible in local currency in banks and most hotels. Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diners Club) are accepted in most shops.

Banking Hours: Banks are open from Monday to Thursday from 8.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m., while on Friday they are open from 9.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
