PASSPORTS AND DOCUMENTATION:

Travel Documents: Passport, with remaining validity of 6 months at the time of entering the country.

Visa: is not required for a stay not exceeding 90 days. You must be in possession of return ticket. 

HEALTH:

Health Care: The health situation is good. The hospital and medical services are quite good but very expensive in private care centers - the only that the foreigners can access in case of emergency (after submitting your credit card as guarantee to cover expenses). In public structures, however, medical services are inadequate. The availability of medicines is discreet but their cost is very high. 

It is advisable to conclude, before undertaking the trip, an health insurance.

Vaccinations: No vaccination is required. 

 

TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRICITY:

Telephones: The country dialling code for Costa Rica is 00506.

Internet: Many are the hotel having connections to the Internet. Several are Internet cafes in main cities.

Electricity: The electric current is 110 volts, 60 Hz. The socket is a American type. 

CURRENCY AND BANKS:

Currency: Costa Rica Colón (CRC), divided into 100 centimos..

Banks: Easily exchangeable the U.S. dollar and Euro that both convertible in local currency in banks and most hotels. Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diners Club) are accepted in major cities and tourist resorts.

Banking Hours: Banks are open from Monday to Friday from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
