The high lands have a cooler and rainy climate with about 1800-2500 mm of rain a year. Temperatures vary greatly depending on the height. The regions of the Pacific are the most hot with average temperatures between 25°C and 29°C, the capital San Salvador that is almost 700 masl has temperatures ranging between 16°C and 34°C, higher areas the country have average temperatures ranging between 12°C and 23°C.
