CLIMATE: WHEN TO GO TO HONDURAS

Honduras climate is tropical, along the north coast which faces the Caribbean Sea, the climate is hot and rainy throughout the year, with heavy rainfall on the Caribbean coast, while higher on plateaus the temperatures tend to be more cool and rain to decrese. Temperatures vary greatly with the altitude, the coastal region has annual average temperatures around 31°C, while in the highlands over 700 meters high annual averages is 23°C. For inland areas and the coast of the Pacific Ocean, the dry season runs from November to April, while the rainy period is from May to October, the average amount of annual rainfall varies from 2,400 mm on the north coast to 950 mm of the capital Tegucigalpa area. The north coast washed by the Caribbean Sea, during summer, between May and October, the rainy season more intense, is also subject to hurricanes. The best time for a visit of Honduras is during the dry season between November and April.
