Vancouver is the most important city in British Columbia and the third Canadian city, its metropolitan area is home to over 2 300 000 people, the city extends over the river Freser, on the Burrard Peninsula, and along the shores of the Strait of Georgia Pacific Ocean. The city is famous for its natural landscape, dominated by the chain of the North Shore Mountains, is rich in parks and public gardens, the most important and extensive is Stanley Park. Vancouver is a young city, was founded at the end of the nineteenth century with the name of Granville, the city developed thanks to the Canadian Pacific Railway train, which made it the final point of arrival on the Pacific, and the gold rush of end nineteenth century.
