Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon (Collectivité territorial de Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon) is a French Territorial Collectivity, located in the Atlantic Ocean south of Newfoundland, it's the last strip of French territory in North America, the rest of that was a great empire that, in North America stretched from Canada to Louisiana. The current territory is made up of two main islands (Miquelon and Saint-Pierre) and some small islands surrounding the island of Saint-Pierre: Grand Colombier, Petit Colombier, Ile aux Marins (Ile aux Chiens), Île aux Pigeons and Île aux Vainqueurs.
The island of Miquelon (216 sq km), the largest, consists of three islands: Le Cap, Miquelon (Grande Miquelon), and Langlade (Petite Miquelon), joined to one another by sand banks. On Saint-Pierre (26 sq. km) is the main town with the same name. Among the main economic activities are fishing and tourism.
