FORTALEZA CEARÁ, BRAZIL

Fortaleza is a modern city, capital of Ceará, today an important industrial center and market of agricultural products, the city is also famous as a seaside resort thanks to its long beaches. Founded by the Dutch in 1649 under the name of Fort Schoonenburg, remained in their possession until the capitulation of Recife in 1654, then joined the Portuguese possessions. Fortaleza is now the fifth largest city in Brazil by number of inhabitants, there are over 2 400 000.
