Salvador (Bahia) is one of the historic towns of Brazil, was founded in 1549 and immediately became the capital of the Brazil colony, of which was the capital until 1763, when it was replaced by Rio de Janeiro. Between 1624 and 1625 Salvador was occupied by the Dutch West India Company (WIC). The city from a historical point of view is one of the most beautiful of Brazil rich in ancient monuments, including entire districts like the historic Pelourinho, several fortresses and wonderful churches, UNESCO has included Salvador in the list of world heritage sites, tourism is one of the main economy activity of the city. Salvador (Bahia), is now the third largest city in Brazil by number of inhabitants, it has over 2 900 000, while the metropolitan area are almost 3 500 000 inhabitans.
