Along the border with Israel are the Jordan Valley and Dead Sea depression, the maximum depression of the planet, which is 420 meters below sea level. The southern region of the country is characterized by deep canyons and steep hills, which reach 1,854 meters at the Jabal Umm Dami, the highest mountain of Jordan. The only river is the Jordan. The economy of the country is a poor economy, agriculture is a character-only livelihood, are cultivated mainly cereals (wheat, barley, sorghum and maize), lentils, beans, potatoes, bananas, apples, tomatoes, onions, citrus fruits (oranges, tangerines, grapefruit, lemons), tobacco, figs, olive trees and date palms.
