The average annual rainfall in these areas varies between 250 mm and 100 mm, the capital Damascus receives an average of 220 mm of rain a year. The average maximum summer temperatures in inland areas vary between 33°C and 40°C, with peaks that sometimes exceed 45°C, while the average minimum winter temperatures are around 0°C.
