| The
Spanish Fort Pilar or Real Fuerza de San José (El Real Fuerza de Nuestra Señora del
Pilar de Zaragoza called El Real Fuerza de San José in its early days), Zamboanga,
Philippines. The fort of Zamboanga was built in
1635 and was the most important on the island of Mindanao. It was demolished in the 17th
century and rebuilt in 1718. The fort is square shaped with bastions at each corner, the
south-western bastion is bigger than the others three. It is presently served as a shrine
that is located in the former garrison, the Fort area includes a national museum and a
patio.
