WHEN TO GO TO FIJI ISLANDS:

Climate: The Fiji islands have a tropical maritime climate warm and humid mitigated by trade winds, rainfall are frequent especially between November and April, and generally are higher on the east and southeast sides, more exposed to trade winds.

The mountains of the largest islands of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu create humid climate zones in the windward sides and dry climate zones in their leeward sides, the prevailing winds are coming from the southeast, then in the larger islands southeastern areas are even the most rainy, while the north-western areas are relatively dry. Most of the rain falls in form of short but intense rainfall, which often occur in the afternoon. The average amount of annual rain in dry regions reaches 2,000 mm, while in the more humid regions varies from a minimum of 3,000 mm in the coastal areas, up to maximum of 6,000 mm in the interior. The wettest month is usually March and the driest month is almost always July. The tropical cyclones are generally possible in the months between November and April, with greatest frequency around January and February, while the islands more exposed to tropical cyclones are the islands located in the northwest sector. Temperatures of Fiji are very uniform with small seasonal variations, the average temperature varies by only 2°C-6°C between the cooler months (July, August) and the warmest (January, February). In the capital, Suva, the maximum annual average temperatures vary between 31.2°C in February and 26.7°C in August, while the minimum annual average temperatures vary between 24°C in February and 20.7°C in July and August.
