CLIMATE: The climate of New Zealand is a maritime climate and it varies between sub-tropical climate in the far north to cool temperate climate of the south of the country. The climate is influenced by sea and the mountains and can undergo sudden changes in the day. The mountains divide the country in very different climatic zones between them, particularly on the South island, the west coast is the most rainy of the country, while just 100 km away, the area east of the mountains is the most dry in the country. On the North island rains are more equitably distributed. During the winter in both islands can snow.

Most of New Zealand has an average annual rainfall ranging between 600 mm and 1600 mm, the rains are spread throughout the year, with a dry summer season, during the months between December and February.

Autumn (March-May) usually presents beautiful days, but rather cooler than summer. Winter (June-August) is cold and rainy in particular on the North, while in the mountains snow appear. Some areas of South island receive little rain in winter, this makes a pleasant time to visit despite the low temperatures, while along the west coast there are heavy rainfall. Spring (September to November) has a very changeable climate with sudden changes, it can vary between hot and cold throughout the day. The warmer months are the summer between December and February, with average temperatures ranging between 20°C and 30°C, while the coldest months are between June and August, with average temperatures ranging between 10°C and 15°C.

Auckland: Auckland climate is a warm and humid, with hot summers and high humidity, while winters are warm and humid. The rain fall throughout the year, but the rainest months are the winter months, the average annual rainfall is 1300 mm.

Christchurch: Christchurch has a rather dry temperate climate with warm summers and cold winters, the rain falls throughout the year but is greater in winter, the average annual rainfall is 600 mm.
