HOW TO MOVE: URBAN TRANSPORT OF VIENNA

The better way in order to admire the beauties of Vienna and to discover the city is to use the publics transport. Vienna has a large public transportation network comprising a suburban metro railway (Vienna S-Bahn), a rapid transit (Metro) system consisting of five lines (Vienna U-Bahn), Local Railways (Lokalbahn Wien-Baden), trams, and buses.  Vienna offers an excellent public transport network, it is one of the best integrated transport networks in Europe.

U-Bahn: The underground network of Vienna (U-Bahn) is composed of 5 lines (U1, U2, U3, U4, U6) and spread over 74 km, for a total of 90 stations. The time interval between two trains is two to five minutes during the day and eight to ten minutes after 20.00. The hours of service is from 5.00 to 1.00.

S-Bahn: The S-Bahn is the surface metropolitan trasport network, managed by the Austrian railways, it will provide transport for commuters in the center connecting the areas of Heuriger, north-west areas of Vienna and the Wienerwald to the south. The hours of service is from 4.30-5.00 to 21.00-24.00.

Tram: The tram (Straßenbahn) is the most used public transport system, thanks to its dense network of connections in the city. The hours of service is from 5.00-5.30 to 23.00-24.00.

Bus: Much developed has also the network of bus lines. The night bus service passing at intervals of 30 minutes of each other starting from midnight until the start of day services.

TICKETS: Vienna Card: Special card that allows you to use the subway, tram and bus network for 72 hours, in addition to four days to take advantage of rebates and discounts at museums, tourist attractions, shops, theaters, concerts, cafes, restaurants and Heuriger.
