Tourist Guide and Information about Belarus

Belarus is a presidential republic created after the dissolution of the USSR, the country is bordered to the south by Ukraine, on the west by Poland, to the northwest with Latvia and Lithuania to the north and east with Russia. Belarus is administratively divided into 6 regions (voblasci) and 1 territory of the capital, Minsk.

Belarus is a country completely flat, full of lakes and marshes, only in the central and north-west areas are low hills, near the capital Minsk they reach their maximum height with Dzjaržynskaja hill (346 meters). The Belarusian plains are crossed by numerous rivers including the Dnepr and its tributary Pripjat.

Belarus is relatively rich in forest resources, while there are few mineral resources (peat, gypsum, natural gas and oil), agriculture because of the harsh climate produces only flax, sugar beet and potatoes. Farming is important. In industry major sectors are mechanical, chemical, electronic, computer, wood and textiles.
