Travel Documents: Bosnia and Herzegovina can only be entered with a valid passport. EU, American and Canadian citizens do not require a visa to enter the country. Most other people do need a visa, and getting one is possible through the Bosnian embassies in your respective countries.

Health Care: The health conditions, albeit largely improving, are still inferior to European standards. The local hospitals are in the process of gradual improvement, especially in the capital and in major cities for emergency interventions, but still, for lack of resources and personnel, not in line with European standards. 

It is advisable to conclude, before undertaking the trip, a medical insurance which provides, in addition to coverage of medical expenses, including the possible return air medical or moving to another country. 

Vaccinations: Not required vaccinations.

Pharmacies: The name for pharmacy is 'apoteka'. In major centers, there are many of them, and there is usually at least one that is open 24 hours a day. These pharmacies will generally have all regular prescription drugs readily available. In villages and smaller towns, you may not find a pharmacy at all.

 

Electricity: In Bosnia-Herzegovina, the voltage is 220 volts 50 Hz

Phone booths – you will find them at the bus stations and post offices – are a lot cheaper. The phones do not accept coins. 10 KM and 20 KM cards can be bought from the post office or at the small newspaper kiosks.

Mobile Telephones: The mobile network coverage is good. There are several local companies and you can use your GSM phone with operator with international roaming service.

Mobile telephone operators: BH Mobile, m:tel BH, HT Eronet.

Internet: Internet cafes are found only in larger cities.

Money and Banks: The official currency in Bosnia is the Convertible Mark or Bosnian Mark (KM, BAM) which has fixed exchange rate with the Euro 1 € = 1.95583 KM.

Most shops will accept payment in Euro. There are many ATM machines in all major towns and cities. US dollars, British pounds, Yens and other major currencies can be exchanged at the banks and exchange offices that are present in most major towns. VISA and Master will be accepted in most places in the main towns.
