HOW TO GET AND MOVE TO BULGARIA: FLIGHTS, BUSES AND TRAINS

Airports and Flights: the main airport in Bulgaria are: Sofia airport, Varna airport, Bourgas airport and Plovdiv airport. Bulgarian air companies have flights to most European capitals and some of the larger cities in Europe. There are air links with some of the countries in the Middle East, Africa, Central and Southern Asia and North America. Most of biggest foreign air companies have flights to Bulgaria too (mostly to Sofia).

Buses: In towns there is urban transport: buses and mini-buses. In Sofia there are trams, trolley buses and underground. Tickets are usually bought before getting on the vehicle.

 

Trains: Fast and express trains link the capital with big towns in the country. Sleeping cars are recommended for night travel to more remote destinations like Varna, Burgas, Rousse, Dobritch. Tickets for all destinations and for sleeping cars can be bought in advance at the Transport Centre in the National Palace of Culture. Tickets can be bought from ticket-collectors in trains, but at a higher price.
