Sunny Beach is a resort located along the southern Bulgarian coast of Black Sea, just 35 km north of Burgas. This tourist site overlooks a semicircular bay, and it's closed to the north by the cliffs of the Balkan chain, while to the south is a small peninsula where lies the historic town of Nessebar.

Sunny Beach main attractions: Sunny Beach is the greatest and most popular holiday center of Bulgaria with many hotels, restaurants, bars, pubs, night clubs, discos and entertainment venues. The beach, 8 km long has a width that varies between 30 and 60 meters, it has recently won the blue flag for the ecology. Sunny Beach attracts many tourists from northern Europe (Germany, Scandinavia, Great Britain) from Russia and Bulgaria, here you can enjoy all kinds of sports (windsurfing, waterskiing, sailing, tennis, beach volleyball, mini-golf, bowling, fitness), the city is also rich in nightlife and entertainment thanks to this has become a favorite of young people.

 

Sunny Beach is easily accessible from Burgas (35 km) and Varna (95 km) through regular bus services. It is also connected with the rest of Europe via the Burgas international airport. 

Sightseeing in the area: Nessebar, an ancient town only 3 km from Sunny Beach, has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage properties, the town was founded about 3000 years ago, it has important remains of the Hellenistic period including the Acropolis, the Temple of Apollo, the Agora, and the remains of Thracian fortifications. There are also important monuments of the Middle Ages as the Stara Mitropolia Basilica and the Byzantine fortress. Also characteristic of the city are the most recent wooden houses typical of the Black Sea nineteenth century. Varna-Golden Sands (95 km), one of the most important tourist sites in Bulgaria, worth a visit the Marine Gardens, with a rich variety of Mediterranean plants, the Aquarium and the dolphinarium. Madara (150 km), another site included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage properties. On a rocky wall 100 meters tall is carved in the rock the figure of a knight who triumphs over a lion, along with an inscription that narrates the events occurred between 705 AD and 801 AD. Madara was the most important holy place of the first Bulgarian Empire before converting to Christianity occurred in the ninth century. Kazanlak (210 km), another site included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites, it is a tomb of the Hellenistic period (fourth century BC), which is located near Seutopolis, which was the ancient capital of king of Thrace Seutes III. The tomb has a narrow corridor and a round burial chamber, both environments are richly decorated with murals representing Thracian burial ritual. These paintings are the best examples of Hellenistic painting kept in Bulgaria. 

 

Sunny Beach Climate:

The climate is Mediterranean, the best season starts in May and ends in October, with average temperatures that in July, the hottest month, vary between 29°C and 18°C. Seawater temperatures ranging between 23°C and 21°C, between July and September.
