Trogir (Trau), is a town of about 13,000 inhabitants which is located in central Dalmatia, about 80 km north of Split. UNESCO has inscribed (1997) Trogir (Traù) in the list of World Heritage Sites. Built on an island it's a city-museum to visit absolutely, rich in Renaissance and Baroque palaces of the Venetian period, beautiful Romanesque churches and interesting works of fortification, the town has a typically medieval aspect, and is still enclosed by a walls almost complete, the two main gates are the Porta Marina (16th century) and the Porta di Terraferma (17th century). Trogir (Traù) main attractions: The Piazza dei Signori today Trg Ivana Pavla II with the Pubblic Loggia (1308), the Clock Tower (1447), Palazzo of the Rectors or Town Hall (15th century), the church of Santa Barbara (Sv. Barbara) (9th-10th century), Palazzo Cippico (15th century), the Cathedral of San Lorenzo (Sv. Lovrec) (12th-13th century) with the Venetian tower (15th-16th century) and the Romanesque portal (1240). The church of San Giovanni (Sv. Ivan Krstitelj) (1270) with the Pinacoteque. The monastery of San Domenico (Sv. Dominik) (14th century), the church of San Pietro (Sv. Petar). The Loggia of Fish (1527), the Church of St. Nicholas (Sv. Nikola) (15th-16th century) and the Benedictine monastery of the museum Zbirka Umjetnina Kairos. The Palace Garagnin-Fanfogna which houses the museum of the city (Muzej Grada Trogira), Gospe od Karmela (church of Mount Caramel). The Castle of Camerlengo (1420-1437), the Tower of San Marco (1470), the walls with the Porta di Terraferma (17th century) and the Porta Marina (1593). Trogir Climate: The climate of Trogir (Trau) is characterized by hot and dry summers and cold and rainy winters. The most rainy months are those from October to January. The average rainfall is around 780 millimeters per year. The best months to visit are those from May to September.
