Český Krumlov is a charming village in the Czech Republic, nestled in a bend of the river Vltava, not far from the Austrian border. The historic center of Český Krumlov, in 1992, was declared by UNESCO a World Heritage property.

The first hint at Český Krumlov is done in a document dated 1253 where the site is listed as "Crhumbenowe." The development of the city took place with the government of the lords of Rozmberk, starting at the beginning of the fourteenth century and up to the sixteenth century. In this period were built new churches, monasteries and palaces, Cesky Krumlov became an important commercial center. In 1601 the town was ceded to the emperor Rudolf II, during the Thirty Years War it underwent several times the occupation of foreign troops (Imperial, Bavarian and Swedish).

Cesky Krumlov main attractions: Located on the banks of the River Vltava, midway between Ceske Budejovice and Lipno Lake, the city of Český Krumlov was built around the thirteenth century castle. It represents an important example of a small medieval village of central Europe, whose architecture has remained intact through the centuries. Most of the buildings of the Old Town, Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque style date back to the fourthteenth-seventeenth centuries, many buildings are externally decorated with frescoes or graffiti. The thirteenth century castle, overlooking the town and Vltava from a rocky cliff, and it's the second of the whole nation, after that of Prague, for greatness and importance, is made up of two buildings connected to each other and flanked by eighteenth century gardens. The castle is open, and inside are frescoed rooms and halls, a beautiful decorated courtyard, an old Baroque theater (1766), a wholly frescoed Renaissance tower.

This beautiful town has more than 300 historic buildings in an atmosphere absolutely incomparable, the town is small and easily visited in a day. Among the museums to visit is that dedicated to the painter Egon Schiele, who lived here for a period of his life.

In the vicinity there are interesting trips to be done, such as that to the old monastery of Zlatá Koruna with a Gothic church and cloister of the thirteenth century, which is only 10 km from the town. Vyssi Brod, ancient cloister with a library and art gallery. Prachatice, a medieval town. About 30 km away from Cesky Krumlov is the Hluboká castle. Nice walks can be made in the nearby Šumava mountains National Park, the largest national park in the Czech Republic.
