Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic is one of the most beautiful and fascinating European cities. The city, rich of evocative views, has numerous important buildings of the Baroque and Gothic architecture. Prague was made part of the Hasburg Empire since 17th century. In 1992, the historical center of Praga, has been declared from the UNESCO a World Heritage Patrimony of the Humanity. Prague has become one of Europe's most popular tourist destinations. Prague main attractions: Prague contains one of the world's most pristine and varied collections of architecture, from Art Nouveau to Baroque, Renaissance, Cubist, Gothic, Neo-Classical and ultra-modern. Between monuments more interesting are the Hradcani Castle, St Vitus Cathedral, Charles Bridge and numerous churches and palaces, built mostly in the 14th century under the Holy Roman Emperor, Charles IV. The city, that is crossed from the Moldava River, has been formed in the time with the union of several villages, that today form the quarters of Prague: Staré Mesto (the Old City) and Josefov (the old Hebrew ghetto) both on the left river of the Moldava; always on the left river, but more to south is Nové Mesto (the New City); on the other side of the river it's Mala Strana with the Citadel of Hrad, the castle founded in 9th century, that dominates the city. In the citadel are the real palace, Saint George Basilic, St Vitus Cathedral with the tombs of the kings of Boemia, the Real Pavilion Lookout and Sternberg Palace with the National Gallery.
Public transportation in Prague: The center of the city can be easily visit on foot, in order to reach it it's better to use the Metropolitan. Public transport infrastructure consists of an integrated transport system of three metro lines (with 54 stations in total), trams, Prague Tram System (including the "nostalgic tram" no. 91), buses, the Petřín funicular to Petřín Hill and a chairlift at Prague Zoo. Prague lies in a temperate climate zone with a mild climate with warm, wet summers and cold winters. The average temperature in the summer varies between 23°C and 29°C, and the average temperature in the winter varies between -11°C and 0°C. In winter daytime temperatures hover around freezing, falling several degrees lower at night. Spring is generally sunny, the wettest months being in summer, May to August. Snow is rare in the city. May through September is the best time to visit Prague, with June being the most highly recommended month of travel for tourists.
