COPENHAGEN

Copenhagen is the capital city of Denmark and the greatest city of the country (500,000 inhabitants; 1,200,000 the metropolitan area), the city is situated along the eastern sea coast of the island of Sjælland and partially on the Amager island, in front to the strait of Øresund, that divides Denmark from Sweden, in the summer 2000, the strait is crossed from a bridge, the Øresund Bridge, that connects the cities of Copenhagen and Malmö.

Public transportation in Copenhagen: Very developed is the public transport that consists of a network of trains, call “S-tog”, bus and metro. Copenhagen has a pretty sedate climate. It seldom gets really hot or really cold. There may be a few occassional heatwaves during June through August, but rarely more than 30°C. Thanks to the Atlantic gulf stream the winters are surprisingly mild and the only months when it might snow January and February. February is the coldest month, while July and August are the warmest. Rainfall is moderate, but spread throughout the year, so showers are possible in any season.
