Touristic Guide and Information about France

Climate: France has the benefit of a temperate, rather agreeable climate. Continental France is divided into four climatic zones:

- Oceanic and humid climate with cooler summers to the west of a line from Bayonne to Lille.

- Semi-continental climate with harsh winters and hot summers in Alsace, Lorraine, along the Rhone corridor and in the mountainous massifs (Alps, Pyrenees and Massif Central).

- Intermediate climate with cold winters and hot summers in the north, and in the Paris and central regions.

- Mediterranean climate with mild winters and very hot summers in the south of France.

The climate is generally temperate. However, in the continental influences, ocean and Mediterranean, France has a great diversity of climatic nuances. France has three main types of climate: Oceanic, Continental and Mediterranean. Most of France in the fall subject to the influence of the Atlantic Ocean, just the southern France is subject to the Mediterranean climate.

OCEANIC CLIMATE: the ocean climate affects the western part of the country, that washed from the Atlantic Ocean, it's characterized by small temperature changes, significant rainfall, fresh summers and cold winters. In the area wit hOceanic climate fall in annual average 1,000 mm of rainfall, distributed with some regularity over the year.

Normandy: the climate of Normandy is wet and rainy for most of the year, the zone of Rouen, one of the most rainy city of France, is characterized by a climate with an almost constant rainfall during the whole year, with cold winters, the area recorded an average of 120 days of rain a year. The best months to visit are those that go from May to September when the weather is more pleasant and temperatures are milder.

CONTINENTAL CLIMATE: This kind of climate affects the eastern and central France, it is characterized by warmer summers and colder winters than in coastal areas affected by the oceanic climate. Precipitation is high and in winter the snow is common.

Paris: Paris is characterized by a climate halfway between the oceanic and continental. Winters are usually short, mild and rainy, when the winds blow warm and humid from the Atlantic Ocean, when the winds blow from the North Pole or from the East the climate is more rigid and snowy, with minimum temperatures even reaching -10°C. Even the summer is characterized by extreme climate variability, which can vary from hot and muggy days with maximum temperatures over 35°C; to day fresh, windy and rainy with minimum temperatures around 10°C. The average minimum winter temperatures stand between 2°C and 4°C, while the average maximum summer temperatures are between 22°C and 25°C. Without doubt spring and autumn are the best times to visit Paris, but the city can be visited without problems all year.
