The archipelago of the Cyclades Islands is a group of islands of Greece in the Aegean Sea, between Attica and Euboea (Evia) to the north-west, and Crete in the south. The Cyclades are composed of over 200 islands and islets, but the main ones are about twenty, among them the most important for tourism are Mykonos and Santorini, while the island of Naxos (429 sq km) is the largest and most fertile. The capital of the Cyclades, Ermoupolis, is located on the island of Syros, Cyclades prefecture covers a total of 2 572 sq. km and includes a population of over 120 000 inhabitants. 

The Cycladic Islands are geographically mountainous and often barren and arid, some (Milos and Santorini) are of volcanic origin, are all accumunate by the beauty of the sea that surrounds them. The islands are important from a historical point of view, is also part of the archipelago the island of Delos, one of the most sacred of ancient Greece, and on many islands there are important archaeological remains. 

The main islands of the Cyclades are: Amorgos, Anafi, Andros, Antiparos, Delos, Folegandros, Ios, Kea, Kimolos, Kythnos, Milos, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, Santorini, Serifos, Sifnos, Sikinos, Syros and Tinos
