Iceland (Lýdveldid Ísland) is a Constitutional republic in north-western Europe, comprising the island of Iceland and its outlying islets in the North Atlantic Ocean between the rest of Europe and Greenland just south of the Arctic Circle. Reykjavik is the state capital. Iceland is considered to be a part of Europe, and it's Europe's second largest island following Great Britain. Many fjords punctuate its 4 970 kilometre long coastline, the Highlands of Iceland, is a cold and uninhabitable combination of sands and mountains. 

Iceland has extensive volcanic and geothermal activity, geologically the island is extremely active, having many volcanoes, notably Hekla, Eldgjá, and Eldfell, Iceland has a high concentration of active volcanoes due to unique geological conditions. The island has about 130 volcanic mountains. The Glaciers of Iceland cover about 11% of the land area of Iceland, the island has the most extended glaciers of Europe, between which the Vatnajökull, in the south-east of the island that measure 8 456 sqkm. The rivers, between which longest it's the Thjórsá, are often characterize from numerous waterfalls; particularly spectacular it's the Gullfoss, on the Hvítá river.
