Airports and Flights:

International: The Republic of Ireland has three main international airports (Dublin, Shannon, and Cork) that serve a wide variety of European and intercontinental routes with scheduled and chartered flights. The national airline is Aer Lingus (EI), although low cost airline Ryanair (FR) is the largest airline.

Domestic: Internal flights are available from the major international airports of Cork, Dublin, and Shannon as well as the regional airports of Aran Islands, City of Derry, Donegal, Galway, Kerry, Knock and Sligo.

 

Aer Lingus: Dublin to Shannon.

Aer Arann: Dublin to Cork, Dublin to Donegal, Dublin to Kerry, Dublin to Knock, Dublin to Galway, Dublin to Sligo.

Aer Arann Islands: Galway to Aran Islands.

Sea Travel:

International:

P&O Irish Sea: Liverpool (UK)-Dublin.

StenaLine: Fishguard (UK)-Rosslare, Holyhead (UK)-Dublin, Holyhead (UK)-Dun Laoghaire.

Irish Ferries: Holyhead (UK)-Dublin, Pembroke (UK)-Rosslare, Roscoff (France)-Rosslare, Cherbourg (France)-Rosslare.

Isle of Man Steam Packet: Isle of Man (UK)-Dublin.

Norfolkline Irish Sea: Liverpool (Birkenhead, UK)-Dublin.

Celtic Link Ferries: Cherbourg (France)-Rosslare.

Brittany Ferries: Roscoff (France)-Cork.

NorseMerchant Ferries: Liverpool (Birkenhead, UK)-Dublin.

Swansea Cork Ferries: Swansea (UK)-Cork.

Domestic: Regular services operate to the Aran Islands off the Galway coast, Aranmore off Donegal, Clare Island off the Mayo coast, Sherkin and the Cape Clear Islands off the coast of West Cork.  

Trains: Ireland has a good network of rail services, they are run by Bus Eireann and Irish Rail.

InterCity services run from Dublin’s Heuston and Connolly Stations to Belfast, Sligo, Ballina, Westport, Galway, Limerick, Ennis, Tralee, Cork, Waterford and Rosslare Europort. Services also run between Rosslare Europort and Limerick; Cork and Tralee; and Cork and Limerick. There are 87 InterCity stations in Ireland. Services are divided into Standard and Superstandard Classes.  

The DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) serves the Dublin area from Howth and Malahide in North County Dublin via Dun Laoghaire in South County Dublin to Greystones in County Wicklow.

Buses: There is an extensive bus service to most parts of the country. Bus Eireann has an Expressway service links every major town and city in the country. With over fifty routes and in partnership with Ulsterbus, it provide direct and regular services to an unrivaled number of destinations including many throughout Northern Ireland. Bus Eireann operates City & Town services in Athlone, Balbriggan, Cork, Drogheda, Dundalk, Galway, Limerick, Navan, Sligo & Waterford. There are also regular daily services in many rural areas. Dublin Bus services the Republic's captial city.

Taxis: There are metered taxis in Cork, Dublin, Galway and Limerick, but in other areas you’ll have to agree on the fare beforehand.
