IRELAND

Ireland (Poblacht Na h'Éireann; Republic of Ireland) is a Republic and a Parliamentary Democracy, it's composed by 4 regions (Leinster, Munster, Ulster, Connaught) and had 26 counties. Dublin in the state capital and largest city, the others important cities are Cork, Limerick and Dún Laoghaire.

The Republic of Ireland lies in the north Atlantic Ocean and is separated from Britain by the Irish Sea to the east. The northeastern part of the island (Northern Ireland) is part of the United Kingdom.

The country has a central plain surrounded by a rim of mountains and hills offering some of the most varied and unspoilt scenery in Europe. The west-coast of Ireland mostly consists of cliffs, hills and low mountains, the highest point being Carrauntoohil at 1 041 metres. The interior of the country is relatively flat land, traversed by rivers such as the River Shannon and several large lakes or loughs.
