Tourist attractions: The attractions for the tourist in Lithuania are constituted from the historical patrimony of the country with the cities of Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda, from the natural landscapes and the archaeological areas. Unesco has inscribed 4 Lithuanian sites in the World Heritage List: Curonian Spit (2000), Kernavė Archaeological Site (Cultural Reserve of Kernavė) (2004), Struve Geodetic Arc (2005), Vilnius Historic Centre (1994). Travel Documents: passport or identification card (identification cards as travel documents accepted only for citizens of EU, European Economic Zone and Switzerland). Health: For entry into Lithuania no vaccinations or health certificates are required. It is advisable to have an European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) in case of a medical emergency. Health insurance policy is optional. Shopping hours: Offices are open Monday-Friday 08,00 (09,00) -17,00 (18,00). State offices are open till 16,00 on Fridays. Most shops are open from 10,00 until 19,00 on weekdays and until 15,00 on Saturdays, some are open on Sundays as well. Food stores are usually open between 08,00-22,00, there are some providing 24 hours service. Electricity: All domestic electricity is 220V, AC 50Hz, and all sockets are of the two-pin European variety. Cuisine: Lithuanian cuisine has much in common with Polish and Scandinavian cuisine. Soups are extremely popular: Barščiai, hot borscht (beet soup) it's served uncreamed or blended with sour cream or buttermilk; sometimes chopped Boletus mushrooms are added. Šaltibarščiai, cold borscht is a summer soup based on beets and soured milk, colored a shocking pink. The most frequently used meat is pork, followed by beef it is often grilled, or dusted with breadcrumbs and sauteed. Fish caught in the area, such as pike or perch, are often baked whole or stuffed. The most commonly used vegetable in Lithuanian recipes is the potato. Lithuanian cuisine wide use wild berries and mushrooms.
