Praia da Rocha was the first Algarve tourist area to be developed. The beauty of the beach wedged between the cliffs and 2 km long is undoubtedly the main attraction for a stay, but also its location between Lagos and Albufeira, makes Praia da Rocha an ideal place to visit the rest of the region. Praia da Rocha main attractions: Do not miss a walk along the cliff of Praia da Rocha leading to the Fortaleza de Santa Catarina de Ribamar, built in 1621. The town is filled with restaurants, bars, shops and night life and is one of the favorites by the youths. There are also casinos located at the beach. Among the excursions to be done from Praia da Rocha: Silves, the ancient Arab capital, with the remains of the Arab castle and a beautiful Gothic cathedral. The Serra de Monchique with the spa village of Caldas de Monchique. Portimao with beautiful mother church. The ruins of the Roman villa of Abicada. Lagos with the old city, its beaches and the promontory of Ponta da Piedade. Alvor and Albufeira with their beaches. Praia da Rocha climate: The climate in the whole Algarve region, is Mediterranean, characterized by mild temperatures all year round, scarce rainfall generally concentrated between November and March, and high insolation. The average temperature varies between 12.2ºC in winter (January) and 30ºC in summer (August). The sea water temperature varies between 14.3ºC in January and 21.3ºC in September.
