Majorca is the largest and most populated of the Balearic Islands, has an area of 3626 square kilometers and a population of 780,000 inhabitants. The island is rich in natural beauty, famous in the past for its vocation to accommodate mass tourism with low cost, are an indication the large hotels arose along the south west coast on the outskirts of Palma de Mallorca as in Magaluf, Palma Nova and Can Pastilla. The geography of Majorca is characterized by the Sierra de Tramuntana, a mountain chain which is located in the northeast of the island, culminating in the Puig del Torrellas (1,445 m), the chain reaches the sea with impressive peaks and cliffs that counteract to the beaches in the rest of the coast. At the center of the island is the so-called "Pla", the fertile central plain. To the west of this plain, at the center of its bay, is the capital Palma de Mallorca.
