COSTA BRAVA
|
The Costa Brava is a popular coastal tourist and resort area in Spain, notably Catalonia, it stretches for 200 km north of Barcelona from the town of Blanes to the border with France. The meaning of the name Costa Brava is Wild Coast, this is because of the wild and rugged cliffs that characterize it, often dottet by small bays and beaches, some of which are accessible by land through trails, some only by boat. The Costa Brava is rich in natural protected areas such as the Parque Natural de Cabo de Creus, that is the easternmost point of the Iberian peninsula, the Parque Natural de los Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, or the marine reserves of Islas Medas and Ses Negres. The most popular tourist destinations on the Costa Brava are Blanes, Tossa de Mar and Lloret de Mar, known for their vitality and nightlife, but there are countless small towns to be discovered along the coast, including, from north to south, find Portbou, Llança, Cadaqués, Roses, Begur, Fornells, Tamariu, Llafranc, Calella de Palafrugell, Palamos and Sant Feliu de Guixols.
