The Costa del Azahar is the coastal region of the province of Castellon de la Plana in the north of Valencia, it extends about 120 km between the towns of Almenara to the south and Vinaros to the north. The Costa de Azahar name comes from the orange flower (azahar) which is the main growing area, this coast is full of contrasts, we find beautiful and developed city like Vinaroz, Peñíscola, Oropesa del Mar, Benicarló, Benicassim and Moncofa, and a coastline rich in green citrus, contrasting with the wild surroundings of the mountains of the Sierra de Irta, running parallel to the coast, or the Prat Cabanes-Torreblanca wetland, and with the Desierto de las Palmas, with its spectacular views of the coast. Among the villages of the interior not to miss a visit to the fortified village of Mascarell, completely surrounded by a wall.
