Fethiye (45,000 inhabitants) is one of the most important tourist localities of the Turkish southern coast, situated in a splendid bay, is found in the province of Mugla to 140 km to the east of Marmaris, the ancient name of the city was Telmessos.
The natural harbor of Fethiye is very scenic, as it is surrounded by small islands and is the main port for cruises aboard a gulet in the area, usually cruises last for four days and take place along the coast between Fethiye and Olympos, or between Fethiye and Marmaris.
Around the lovely town of Fethiye are some interesting archaeological places as Telmessos and Xanthos, and a mere 15 km away from it is the famous beach of Ölüdeniz, known for its beauty as the Blue Lagoon
