Airports and Flights: Turkey’s main airports are: Ankara Esenboga (ESB), Istanbul Ataturk (IST), Izmir Adnan Menderes (IZM) and Sabiha Gökçen (SAW), 40km from Istanbul, on the Asian side.  

Turkish Airlines (TK): has regular flights for Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya, Adana, Trabzon and Dalaman from the principal capitals and major cities of the world. Virtually every major city in Turkey has air service and Turkish Airlines offers nationwide services. Most flights connect through Istanbul or Ankara, both of which have domestic and international terminals.

Sun Express, a Turkish-German joint venture, flies from Austria, Germany and Switzerland to Turkey.  

International airlines: most international airlines have regular flights from all major cities of the world to Turkey's international airports.

 

National Transport: Turkish Airlines provides an important network of domestic flights from Istanbul, Ankara, Adana, Antalya, Dalaman, Izmir and Trabzon to all of the major Turkish cities.  

Onur Air has a fast-growing list of domestic flights.

Sun Express, flies within Turkey from Izmir's Adnan Menderes Airport to Adana, Antalya, Diyarbakir, Erzurum, Kayseri, Konya, Trabzon and Van.

Maritime Transport: The main ports are at Antalya, Bandirma, Istanbul, Izmir, Marmaris and Mersin.

International Transport:

To/from Greece: There are privately operated ferry lines between Turkey and the Greek islands: Lesbos-Ayvalik, Chios-Cesme, Samos-Kusadasi, Cos-Bodrum, Rhodes-Bodrum, Rhodes-Marmaris and Rhodes-Fethiye. Cos-Bodrum is the only winter car ferry route.

To/from Cyprus: Three routes exist on which sea buses, together with car and passenger ferries, operate: Girne-Alanya, Girne-Tasucu, Gazimagusa-Mersin.

To/from Italy: Direct ferries operate in the summer between Ancona-Cesme and Brindisi-Cesme.

To/from Ukraine: Ferries operate between Odessa-Istanbul.

National Transport: A frequent car ferry crosses the Dardanelles at Gallipoli, from Canakkale to Eceabat and Gelibolu to Lapseki.  Sea of Marmara ferry services run between Istanbul on the north shore and Yalova and Bandirma on the south shore.

Trains:

International Transport: Train journeys can be made to Istanbul via some of the major European cities. international rail routes travel to/from Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Germany, Hungary and Serbia.

National Transport: The TCDD - Türkiye Devlet Demir Yolları (Turkish Republic Railways) possess 11,000 km of network, but unfortunately, trains are mostly outdated and routes are limited.

Buses:

International Transport: There are regular bus services between Turkey and Austria, France, Germany, Greece and Switzerland, as well as Jordan, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Syria.

National Transport: Bus is the main public transportation mean in Turkey. It is cheap and frequent.
