Macedonian Cuisine: Macedonian cuisine, has its roots in Turkish and Slavic cuisines. Typical is the ajvar, a sauce made with tomatoes and paprika, which is often served as an appetizer with bread and salumi. The Pindzhur is a traditional appetizer consists of tomatoes, peppers and aubergine, fried or baked in the oven. Among the main courses are "sarma vo lozov list" stewed pork and beef minced wrapped in vine leaves, often served with sour cream (tavche gravche) or hot pepper. The Sutlijash, is a popular dessert, a rice pudding, served with cinnamon and toasted almonds.
