Swiss Cuisine: Swiss cuisine, is a mix of the different cuisines of cultures (German, French, Italian, Ladin) on the nation, it varies considerably from canton to canton. Typical products known throughout the world, are cheese and chocolate. In particular, among the cheeses are famous Swiss products: Emmental, Gruyère, Vacherin, and Appenzeller. The most popular cheese based Swiss dishes are Fondue, cheese with white wine with pieces of bread; and Raclette, slices of cheese accompanied by potatoes and pickles. The Muesli, cereals and fruits, is the typical dish of Swiss breakfast. Among the meat based dishes more typical of the Swiss cuisine are Kalbfilet, veal fillet; the Rindfilet, fillet of beef; the Schweinschnitzel, pork schnitzel; the Lederpiessli, grilled liver. Popular dishes of Canton Ticino are Luganighe and Luganighetta, types of sausages. The Rösti is a popular dish made of potatoes. Excellent are braised beef, polenta, risotto (Saffron Risotto) and desserts. The meringues were invented in the eighteenth century, by an Italian chef (Gasparini), in the town of Meiringen in Switzerland, near Bern.
