Ponta das
Caracas is a rocky point with several natural swimming pools among the stones. From the
viewpoints are beautiful views of Praia do Leão
and Baia do Suéste, is also visible the Ilha do Frade in the Baia da Atalaia. On the Ponta das Caracas there are
also the ruins of the Forte São Joaquim do Sueste.

BAÍA DO SUESTE
Another
beautiful beach of the Mar de Fora. Was in this bay that the Portuguese fleet, which
pretended to retake the Archipelago from the Dutch, landed in 1629. Near the sea there is
the only mangrove in an oceanic island, an ecologic rarity.
Un'altra
bella spiaggia del Mar de Fora. Fu in questa baia che la flotta portoghese, che aveva
l'obiettivo di riprendere l'arcipelago agli olandesi, sbarcò nel 1629. Vicino al mare è
l'unico esempio di mangrovie in un isola oceanica, una rarità ecologica.
