Bali is the westernmost island of the Lesser Sunda Islands in Indonesia it's lying between Java to the west and Lombok to the east. Bali has a surface area of 5,633 sq.km., the highest point of the island is Mount Agung, an active volcano, at 3,142 metres high, another active volcano is Mount Batur (1,717 metres), with a lake in the center of the caldera. Unlike most of Muslim-majority Indonesia, the religion of about 92% of Bali's population is Hinduism. The main city and the provincial capital is Denpasar towards the south of the island. Bali has a tropical climate, year round temperatures averaging 31°C., the wet season is between October and April with its peak in December-February; while the dry season is between May and September. Bali is the largest tourist destination of Indonesia, the island main attractions are the beautiful beaches as Sanur, Kuta, Legian... (in the south there are white sand beaches while those in the north and west have black sand), the natural lanscapes (volcanoes, waterfalls, rice-fields) and cultural tourism.
