ITINERARY IN CHIANTI: land of hills, wine, art and history
Itinerary from Florence to Siena: Florence,
Badia a Passignano, San Donato in Poggio, Tignano, Barberino Val D'Elsa, Sant'Appiano,
Linari, Petrognano, San Donnino (Semifonte), Certaldo, San Gimignano (optional escursion
to the ruins of Castelvecchio), Colle Val D'Elsa, Monteriggioni, Siena. |

| Chianti
region is situated in Tuscany (Toscana) and stretches between the cities of Florence
(Firenze) and Siena. Villas, castles and farmhouses are scattered throughout every hill
and valley. Chianti area is know for one of the most famous wine in the world and also for
its history, artistic heritage and natural beauty.
I suggest the following alternative itinerary between Florence
and Siena:
Florence, Badia a Passignano, San Donato in Poggio,
Tignano, Barberino Val D'Elsa, Sant'Appiano, Linari, Petrognano, San Donnino (Semifonte),
Certaldo, San Gimignano (is possible also an escursion to the ruins of Castelvecchio),
Colle Val D'Elsa, Monteriggioni, Siena. |

| These
are the roads to follow for this itinerary: from Florence take the SGC Firenze-Siena (this
road start from A1 highway exit Firenze Certosa) direction Siena, exit Tavarnelle Val di
Pesa after this exit turn right, after about 100 mt. you must turn right passed the Pesa
bridge, direction Sambuca then after a few kilometres, when you are approaching Sambuca
turn on the left direction Badia a Passignano another 2 km and you'll see the beautiful
Badia a Passignano. |

on the same road to Sambuca, then follow the direction San Donato in Poggio. |
SAN DONATO IN

| From San
Donato in Poggio you must return on the same road following the direction to Tavarnelle
Val di Pesa you will pass near the Morrocco santuary (Santuario di Santa Maria al
Morrocco, the santuary is occupied by a tiny community of Australian nuns). |

| Arrived
in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa (a good bed
and breakfast.) after the gasoline service turn left following the direction Tignano
you will pass Castello del Nero farm and you 'll arrive at the old village of Tignano. |
