Monterey. This Church, was completed in 1794, is the
oldest extant building in Monterey. The church has been in continuous service as
Monterey's Catholic chapel and as the cathedral of the Diocese of Monterey. |

Carmel Mission, California. The Mission of
"San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo" was founded on June 3, 1770. It is located near
the town of Carmel, California. The mission was named for Saint Carlo Borromeo, Archbishop
of Milan. Today, Carmel Mission is one of the most popular tourist sites in all of
California and is a National Historic Landmark. |
