| From Astoria to Brookings,
the spectacular Pacific Coast Scenic Byway (Hwy. 101) follows most of the 650 km
coastline. For a minimum visit of this beautiful coast plan on four days (minimun) or
more. We did stops for the night at Seaside (1 night), Florence (1 night) and Brookings (2
nights). |
ECOLA STATE PARK |
| Ecola State Park, just off Highway 101, is one of the crown
jewels of the Oregon State Park System: rugged cliffs, seastacks, the famous Cannon Beach,
dense forests, hiking trails, a
breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean and chilling fog are among
the features that await visitors. |

CANNON BEACH |
| To the
south of Ecola State Park, west of Highway 101, lies Cannon Beach and its landmark
Haystack Rock, that is the third largest free-standig coastal monolith in the world. |

THE THREE CAPES SCENIC ROUTE |
| This is a
beautiful scenic oceanfront drive out of Tillamook. Take 3rd Street exit off of Hwy 101
towards the west. Follow Netarts Hwy to Bayocean Road to Cape Meares Loop Road. Continue
to Netarts Bay Drive and south along Whiskey Creek Road to Cape Lookout Road. Head south
on Sand Lake Road to Cape Drive then east to Pacific City and back to Hwy 101. |

CAPE KIWANDA STATE PARK |
| Cape
Kiwanda is part of the Three Capes Scenic Route (along with Cape Meares and Cape Lookout).
Kiwanda is the smallest of the three. |
 
CAPE FOULWEATHER OTTER CREST STATE PARK |
| Cape
Foulweather was discoverd and named in 1778 by the famous British navigator Captain James
Cook. It was at this Point that Captain Cook first sighted the mainland of North America
on the Pacific Coast. A Lookout is perched atop this promontory rising 150 m. above sea
level. Cape Foulweather is stunning and inspirational with its picturesque promontory. |

HECETA HEAD STATE PARK |
| Heceta Head
State Park (which includes Devils Elbow State Park) is located in a cove at the mouth of
Cape Creek. A short trail leads to the historic Heceta Head lighthouse and lighthouse
keeper's house. |
