CLIMATE: The Egyptian climate has two seasons, a mild winter between November and April and a hot and dry summer from May to October.

The country is mostly desert, only on the narrow strip crossed by the River Nile are possible crops. The area around Alexandria is the most rainy area of the country, but received only 200 mm of rain a year, the Cairo area has average rainfall of 100 mm, further south the rains are almost absent, for example Aswan receives 2 mm a year. In the spring months, particularly in April, blows sometimes from the desert a warm wind, the sirocco (Khamsin) carrying large amounts of sand, causing intense storms of sand and a sharp rise in temperature. 

 

In Alexandria, on the coast, the average minimum temperatures ranging between 9°C in January and 23°C in August, while the average maximum temperatures vary between 18°C in January and 30°C in August. Inside the temperature differences between the maximum and the minimum is more marked, for example Aswan as an average minimum temperatures ranging between 8°C in January and 26°C in July, while the average maximum temperatures vary between 23°C in January and 41°C in June. 

Sinai-Red Sea: The climate of the Sinai peninsula is desertic, hot and dry, with rainfall almost totally absent. The average minimum temperature in Sharm el Sheikh vary between 13°C in January and 28°C in August, while the average maximum temperatures vary between 21°C in January and 37°C in August.

The average temperature of the Red Sea at Sharm el Sheikh varies between 22°C in February and 29°C in August.

The best time to go to Egypt are the months between October and March. As far as the coast of Sinai, the best months for a trip are those between March and May and between September and November.
