The Augrabies Falls National Park is in the Northern Cape region of South Africa, 120 km west of the town of Upington. The park, which was established in 1966, occupies an area of 55,383 hectares along the Orange River, which in this place forms wild waterfalls almost 60 meters high and a gorge (Orange River Gorge) carved into granite rock, long 18 km and 240 meters deep, the waterfalls are particularly impressive during flood (usually in February-April), the name of the Augrabies Falls derives from the word "Aukoerebis" that in Khoi language means the place of great noise.

Climate: The climate is arid desert it presents torrid summers and cold winter nights, the rainy season runs from January to April, the best time to visit the park and the falls is between March and October.
